A UK Engraving Company Built on Permanent Marking

Matform is an engraving company specialising in etching and precision laser engraving. We make durable identification products for industry. Our work covers custom engraved metal labels, aluminium engraving plates and bespoke asset identification parts. Because every job is made to order, we match the material and the marking method to the environment.

Printed labels fade. Engraved marks do not. Laser engraving cuts into the surface itself, so the mark resists wear, heat and cleaning. As a result, the information stays legible for the working life of the asset.

Engraved Metal Labels Built to Last

Many industries use engraved metal labels to identify equipment, assets, machinery and infrastructure. Laser engraving removes material from the surface to create a precise, permanent mark. Therefore critical information stays visible, even in harsh conditions.

Our engraved products include asset identification labels, equipment nameplates, serial number plates and data plates. In addition, we produce control panel labels and safety and information signage.

We work with a range of metals. So we can meet both operational and compliance requirements on the same job.

Etching for Larger Nameplate Runs

For larger quantities of nameplates, etching costs less than laser engraving. We etch on aluminium, brass and stainless steel.

The process runs in three stages. First, we apply a resin coating. Then we etch the design into the resin. Finally, the material goes into a chemical tank, which corrodes the exposed metal and leaves a permanent, precise design.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are engraved metal labels?

Engraved metal labels are identification plates. The information sits permanently in the surface of the metal. Typically customers use them for asset identification, machinery labelling, serial numbers and equipment data.

What materials can you use for engraved metal labels?

We engrave aluminium, stainless steel and other metals. In each case, we choose the material to suit the environment and the application.

What are aluminium engraving plates used for?

Customers fit aluminium engraving plates to machinery, control panels and equipment. They also work well for asset tracking and industrial signage, since the finish stays clean and professional.

What is the difference between engraving and etching?

Engraving cuts a permanent mark by removing material from the surface. Etching, by comparison, uses a chemical process to create the markings. Which one suits you depends on quantity, material and how much durability the job needs.

How durable are laser engraved labels?

Laser engraved labels last a long time. Because the mark sits in the metal rather than on top of it, it resists fading and wear far better than most printed alternatives.
